Turhish Stuffed Vegetables with Olive Oil (Zeytin Yağlı Dolma): Ingredients

  • Grape leaves
  • 3 cups rice
  • 1 cup fine bulgur
  • Fresh basil
  • Mint
  • Salt
  • 1 medium-sized onion
  • 1.5 tablespoons tomato paste
  • Approximately 3 cups water
  • 1.5 cups Sunmare Extra Virgin Olive Oil

Turhish Stuffed Vegetables with Olive Oil: Recipe

  1. Heat 1/2 cup of Sunmare olive oil in a pan, sauté chopped onions until golden.
  2. Add rice, fine bulgur, fresh basil, mint, salt, and tomato paste to the sautéed onions. Mix well.
  3. Pour enough water to cover the mixture. Cook until the water is absorbed and the rice is cooked.
  4. Remove the stems from the grape leaves and place a spoonful of the rice mixture on each leaf.
  5. Roll the grape leaves tightly, folding the sides in as you go.
  6. Arrange the rolled grape leaves in a pot, placing them closely together.
  7. Pour 1 cup of Sunmare Extra Virgin Olive Oil and enough water to cover the dolmas.
  8. Place a plate on top of the dolmas to prevent them from unraveling during cooking.
  9. Cover the pot and cook over high heat until it starts boiling, then reduce the heat and simmer until the rice is fully cooked.
  10. Check for doneness by tasting the rice and add water as needed during cooking.
  11. Once cooked, let them cool before serving.
